Why This Fisherman Had to Throw a 100-Year-Old Lobster Back to the Sea
A fifth-generation fisherman in Maine caught a 100-year-old lobster last month, and then explained why his dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather may have caught the same lobster.
You have to throw certain ones back, and there are two basic reasons why. If it's a baby lobster, it must be allowed to grow to maturity . . . and if it's an oversized older one, they're protected for life so they can continue to mate.
The video ends with him feeding a delicious fish to the 100-year-old lobster before throwing it back so it can "make some babies."
