Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts Return

Kellogg’s has decided to bring back the 90s fave Frosted Grape Pop-Tarts. They’ll be just like the ones everyone remembers from a couple of decades ago with white icing, grape jelly flavored filling and the purple crunch that gave them a great reputation.

The Kentucky Derby Is Now Serving $1,000 Ruby-Encrusted Mint Juleps

If there's one place on Earth where ZERO PERCENT of people are price-sensitive, it's the Kentucky Derby. So this isn't THAT shocking . . .

This year's Kentucky Derby is May 7th, and they'll be serving mint juleps that are "ruby-encrusted." They cost $1,000, and the drinks will be poured into silver julep cups featuring red rubies in the shape of a horseshoe.

They're only selling 148 of them, and there will be about 20 that will be even MORE exclusive. They'll be made from GOLD and cost $2,500.

The proceeds will benefit Old Friends Farm, where some racehorses go to retire.

MIT Conducted Scientific, "Oreology" Studies on Perfectly Opening an Oreo

Our smartest minds may not have cured cancer . . . but they're having a lot of fun in the lab studying the optimal ways to twist open Oreos.  (???)

Researchers at MIT have been trying to determine if there's a way you can twist open an Oreo so that each of the cookie parts have an equal spread of crème, without it all coming off on one side . . . or the crème being split into two half-moon shapes on each wafer.

They called the study "Oreology," and they used 3D-printed instruments called "Oreometers" that could hold the Oreos, and then apply precise, varying levels of pressure and torque to carefully open them up.

After an exhaustive process, the researchers found . . . well, nothing.

There's no secret trick to opening an Oreo perfectly evenly. It will almost always split with more crème on one side . . . and that side will be more delicious.

The Takeout Lists 9 Of The Best Fast-Food Items For Vegetarians

If you’re a vegetarian, getting your fast food on can be a drag. With that in mind, The Takeout has come up with a list of nine of the best options. Here’s their list:

  • Taco Bell Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme – A high-protein meatless entrée that contains black beans, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and a crunchy tostada shell wrapped in a flour tortilla. It’s basically a meatless version of Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap. And PS, Taco Bell is the first quick-service chain to offer food certified by the American Vegetarian Association.
  • Arby’s Mozzarella Sticks – Not vegan, but certainly meatless….those interested should note that they “may be cooked in the same oil as menu items that contain soy, egg and fish.”
  • KFC Beyond Fried Chicken – Plant-based nuggets that editors say are seasoned well…but they are fried in oil that’s used to fry real chicken products, so there’s that.
  • Chipotle Sofritas – Made with seasoned ground tofu and all of Chipotle’s guac, chips, salsas, beans, veggies, rice and tortillas are certified vegan. The Sofritas are vegan and vegetarian, but not high in protein.
  • Culver’s Cheese Curds and Pretzel Bites – Deep-fried cheese curds make with yellow and white Cheddar cheeses with salty pretzels. Redditors say there may be a light risk of cross-contamination (with non veg items).
  • Jollibee Mashed Potatoes – Served in a cup with meatless gravy, this simple dish is totally veg-friendly.
  • Shake Shack ‘Shroom Burger – features a crisp-fried Portobello mushroom that’s filled with cheddar and muenster cheeses and topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. It’s not vegan-friendly because of the cheese and Shake Shack says it is “processed in a factory where possible cross-contact occurs with fish.”
  • White Castle Impossible Sliders – Eater says these sliders are “one of the country’s best fast-food burgers, period” especially when the onions are added to the Impossible patties. Just note that there’s a possibility of griddle cross-contamination with meat products at White Castle.
  • Starbucks Chickpea Bites and Avocado Protein Box – It’s a grab-and-go “protein box” that contains snap peas, mini carrots, avocado spread and a trail mix that has almonds, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds and pepitas. The chickpea bites are “falafel-inspired” and the box is vegan and vegetarian.
