Gilbert Gottfried Lost His Battle with Muscular Dystrophy

Legendary comedian Gilbert Gottfried died yesterday, after a battle with a disease called type 2 myotonic dystrophy . . . which is a form of muscular dystrophy. He was 67 years old.

Despite his decades of amazing work, Gilbert is probably best known as the voice of Iago the parrot in the animated version of Disney's "Aladdin" from 1992 . . . and the voice of the duck in the Aflac insurance commercials.

Of course, he lost THAT gig in 2011, after making jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

He also crushed it on the Comedy Central Roasts of Bob Saget, Joan Rivers, David Hasselhoff, Donald Trump, and Roseanne.

Gilbert's other movies included "Problem Child", "Beverly Hills Cop 2", and "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane".

He also did voice work on cartoons like "The Fairly Oddparents", "SpongeBob", and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Gilbert is survived by his wife Dara and their kids, 14-year-old Kara and 12-year-old Max.
