Nirvana Has Streaming Hit Thanks To "The Batman"
Friday afternoon, Nirvana's "Something in the Way" reached No. 3 on Spotify's daily ranking of top 50 streaming songs in the states. It had 803,000 plays that day alone. Glass Animals were at No. 1 and "Encanto's" "We Don't Talk About Bruno" was at No.2. It's not just the song that's been bumped suddenly. Their "Nevermind" album from 1991, which the song appeared on, has boosted numbers too, reaching No. 9 on Amazon Music's list of bestselling CDs and vinyl.
What's the cause of this resurgence? It's all thanks to the movie "The Batman." "Something in the Way" is played at both the beginning and endpoints of the movie. It's also alluded to in the movie's score. In just the first four days of the movie's release, there was a 734% increase in total on-demand streams for the song when compared to the four days before the movie came out.

Muse Announce New Song
Muse is officially back, having released their single "Won't Stand Down" in January. Well now they're teasing a new song "Compliance" that they'll be dropping on Thursday. You're already able to pre-save the song.
The band made the announcement with a silent 28-second video. It shows the message, “Compliance is about the promise of safety and reassurance sold to us by powerful entities during times of vulnerability. Gangs, governments, demagogies, social media algorithms & religions seduce us with misleading untruths and comforting fables.”
Last week, the band shared a 35-second video and fans took it to be a first look at the artwork for their upcoming album. It showed a crowd of figures in hoods and shiny masks. They pull down the three bandmembers - Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard from the outskirts of a windswept desert. There was also a snippet of a then-unknown track. Safe to guess that the song may very well be "Compliance."
