Food: McDonald’s Adds 4 New Menu Items Inspired By Fan Hacks

McDonald’s Adds 4 New Menu Items Inspired By Fan Hacks

Starting January 31st, McDonald’s is adding four new menu items that were inspired by fan-favorite “menu hacks” – and they’re even crediting the folks who gave them the bright ideas. They are:

  • The Hash Brown McMuffin – credited to Sarah Sandlin (@sarahmargaretsandlin), A Hash Brown goes inside of the Sausage McMuffin and she says it gives “that extra little crispy bite.” It’s only available during breakfast hours.
  • The Crunchy Double – It’s Greg Simms (@grubwithgreg) invention. He says “It’s simple, yet so tasty…Chicken McNuggets topped with a Double Cheeseburger, then drizzled with Tangy Barbeque Sauce.”
  • The Land, Air & Sea – This hack comes from Julian Broadway (@julianbroadway). It’s “A McChicken, stacked on a Big Mac, stacked on a Filet-O-Fish. Julian says “Go big baby” and it’s served with a Hot ‘n Spicy McChicken sandwich at select restaurants.
  • The Surf + Turf – PJ Mattingly (@heavyhands94) says “Sometimes I’m craving the flaky crunch of a Filet-O-Fish, sometimes I want the juiciness of a Double Cheeseburger, and sometimes I want both. So why choose?” So it’s actually two sandwiches!

McDonald’s is rolling out the hack menu with an ad campaign starting January 31st and the new menu items will be available via carry-out, on the McDonald’s app, at the Drive Thru or through McDelivery. One note? If you want the Surf + Turf, its only available exclusively via McDeliver or on the McDonald’s app.

TGI Fridays are going to give out free appetizers to delivery drivers and mail carriers next month.

Anyone who shows up in uniform on February 10th can get one. They say it's to thank them for everything they've done during the pandemic.

(They're also doing it to promote their new "Remixed and Remastered" menu line-up.)

Scientist Says Coffee Could Be The Key To Your Naps

Most doctors and sleep experts discourage drinking coffee before bedtime, but sleep researcher Brice Faraut says that drinking coffee before a 20 to 30-minute nap is actually a good thing! In his new book, “Saved by the Siesta,” he says that napping is not only a great idea for keeping yourself together but that drinking coffee before a nap the caffeine will help you be more alert for four to six hours after you wake up!

Need proof? A Japanese study of 10 adults revealed that adults with a 15-minute “caffeine nap” did better on computer tasks than those with a regular nap and a face wash or light exposure, but you have to remember not to take a nap too late in the day. It takes your body four to six hours to get rid of half of the caffeine effects, so a 5 pm nap could interfere with going to sleep at 10 pm.

Faraut’s advice? Go at least six hours between your nap and bedtime and limit your nap to 20 to 30 minutes. And get this – you can get a great benefit from a power nap of ten minutes. Faraut says it’s usually enough to offset the effects of one hour too little sleep at night and is the perfect prep for an afternoon meeting.
