Entertainment: Alec Baldwin Says He Didn't Pull the Trigger

Alec Baldwin sat for an interview with George Stephanopoulus. It's his first interview since he accidentally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie "Rust".

The full interview airs tonight on ABC, but in preview footage, Alec says, quote, "I didn't pull the trigger . . . I would never point a gun at anyone and pull a trigger at them, never."

He added that he has no idea how a live bullet ended up in the gun . . . or even on the set. And while he doesn't consider himself a victim, he does say this is the worst thing that's ever happened to him.

As far as that whole not pulling the trigger thing, TMZ spoke with a Hollywood weapons expert who showed just how little pressure is needed to pull a trigger when the hammer is back.

He doubts Alec's claim that he didn't pull the trigger . . . and thinks it's more likely Alec didn't MEAN to pull the trigger.
