Lucasfilm announced an October 30 premiere date for season 2 their hit Star Wars streaming series just last week. Now Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at the new season of The Mandalorian.
Check out the first officially released season 2 photos below. They don't really show anything mind-blowing. We see slightly updated looks for Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and Greef Carga (Carl Weathers), we've got a shot of the villainous Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), and it looks like The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) is now carrying The Child/Baby Yoda on his hip in an Indiana Jones-style satchel...and sometimes on the back of a speeder bike.
The article mentions, but doesn't confirm, rumored casting for various Star Wars characters reported to be appearing this season...Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Temeura Morrison as Boba Fett, plus Katee Sackhoff, Michael Biehn, and Timothy Olyphant.
Showrunner Jon Favreau describes the show's second season as follows:
“The new season is about introducing a larger story in the world. The stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavor, and hopefully we’re bringing a lot more scope to the show.”
“As we introduce other characters, there are opportunities to follow different storylines. The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines — that's very appealing to me as an audience member.”
