Whataburger trades iconic A-frame design for new look

The iconic Texas fast-food chain is making updates to its restaurants' design including leaving the A-frame format behind. However, their original burgers and orange-and-white color scheme aren't going anywhere.

Whataburger recently debuted its first remodeled store in their hometown of San Antonio. Located at 7007 S Zarzamora St, San Antonio, TX 78224.

The customers' reactions to the updated design have been mixed. James Turcotte, senior vice president of real estate at Whataburger, tells CultureMap: “As in all things, some people seem to love it and some had some maybe less-favorable comments. But you know, that’s just the internet, I guess.”

Currently, two other San Antonio locations are undergoing makeovers, Turcotte says. Over the next 8 to 10 years, all of Whataburger’s restaurants will undergo the remodel. The chain comprises more than 700 company-owned stores and nearly 130 franchised stores in 10 states.
