Author Stephanie Meyer just announced her long-awaited prequel to the "Twilight" saga. "The Midnight Sun" will be released August 4th and will be told from vampire Edward Cullen's point of view.
According to a story on KHOU 11, Meyer had Twilight fans in suspense all weekend with a mysterious countdown clock on her website teasing a major announcement. The site crashed this morning, but the book was announced by publisher Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
Meyer started and abandoned "The Midnight Sun" more than a decade ago after early work on the book leaked online. The "Twilight" books, with an army of passionate fans, have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. The film franchise starred Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, the teenager who falls in love with him. The five films, released annually 2008 - 2012, were all massive box office hits.
