As of Sunday's episode, Andrew Lincoln has left The Walking Dead, but his character Rick Grimes isn't dead, and apparently, he's not done fighting zombies.
According to iO9, AMC has announced that Rick's story will continue in a series (possibly a trilogy) of movies to air on the network. We don't want to spoil where Rick's final episode left him, in case you haven't had a chance to watch yet, but the movies will take place after the episode and will chronicle the next chapter in the life of Rick Grimes.
No word on what direction the story might take, or on any casting, aside from Lincoln. Walking Dead chief content officer Scott M. Gimple has said that the movies will maintain the feel of the series while expanding the world to the scope and scale of feature films. There's also word that the Rick movies are just the beginning, with other TWD movies in development to follow.
