The Lovely Ladies from 94.5 The Buzz are excited to Team Up with HISD’s Project Prom this year! We are collecting your new or gently used formal wear, dresses, shoes and jewelry!
We will be offering up our lobby at 2000 West Loop South, Ste 300, to be a collection bin for your new or gently used dresses, shoes and jewelry! Just bring them by the station, on the third floor, put them in the bin, and they will go to a high school prom goer in need!
The station is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., we only have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to collect!
Due to Hurricane Harvey, thousands of students remain displaced. To date, there are over 28,000 homeless students districtwide. Project Prom is an initiative that was created to meet the needs of homeless and at-risk students during the prom season. Students who are eligible to attend their proms, but unable to afford a gown, shoes and accessories, or a tuxedo, shirt and bowtie, will be provided these items completely FREE of charge!
The event will also include motivational speakers, college and career resources, health services, as well as parent empowerment sessions. They are anticipating approximately 1,000 high school seniors to attend the event.
The young men who attend the event will receive a voucher for a full tuxedo rental from Majestic Tuxedo. Through our collaboration with Majestic Tuxedo, Mr. Gilberto Garza, the owner has agreed to provide the young men with all the items needed for prom (at a rate of $60 per student). If anyone would like to sponsor one of our young men, please donate directly to the Houston ISD Foundation, at http://www.houstonisd.org/Page/164281.
Please specify Project Prom as the “purpose of the donation” to ensure our program receives the funds. If donating online, credit, debit or Paypal accounts may be used.
