UPDATE - 'We Love Houston' Sign Moving To A New Home

I learned today that David Adickes, the guy who designed the 'We Heart Houston' (or is that 'We Love Houston?') sign on 1-10 used to be pals with Picasso.

And I learned that the sign is moving to a new location in EaDo (that's East Downtown if you aren't hip to the cool kids lingo).

I was initially less stoked about the second thing, but, it's supposed to give people a chance to actually take photos with the sign, which is cool. And in all honestly, the sign's not quite as impressive since town homes went up right behind it.

Soon, it'll be "moving to a promenade near the 8th Wonder Brewery, which is the current home of the towering Fab Four statues." There's no word on when this will actually happen.

In other news regarding Adickes, "his new workshop on Nance Street is currently being condemned, he said, due to eminent domain issues related to the restructuring of I-45."

Well. That really sucks.

UPDATE - So, it's gone! Wow. That was fast. Crews removed it from the I-10 location today. (ABC 13)
