Cable News Chaos: Tucker Is Out at Fox News, and Don Lemon Was Fired by CNN

There was a huge cable news shakeup yesterday, with Fox News getting rid of Tucker Carlson and CNN letting Don Lemon go.

Tucker's firing was the bigger shock since he was the big moneymaker at Fox.  And he obviously had no idea it was coming because when he signed off on Friday, he told his viewers he'd see them again on Monday.

Until a permanent replacement is found, a rotating slate of guest hosts will occupy the 8:00 p.m. slot.

Last night, Brian Kilmeade was behind the desk, and the show was renamed "Fox News Tonight."

There's no official word why Tucker was let go, but sources say Rupert Murdoch himself made the call.  It would be an understatement to say that a lot's been happening at Fox.

They just agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787.5 million to avoid a defamation trial at which Tucker and other hosts would be confronted with texts proving they knew they were peddling B.S. about election interference.

But there's also a discrimination lawsuit pending from former Fox producer Abby Grossberg, who claims she was bullied and subjected to anti-Semitic comments while working on his show.

Tucker has also been criticized for promoting a conspiracy theory about Ray Epps . . . a January 6th rioter who did not actually enter the Capitol building.

Tucker has been saying . . . without a shred of evidence . . . that Epps was an FBI plant who was there to rile up Trump supporters.  Because of that, Epps has been getting death threats.

So basically, if you're looking for a reason why Tucker got canned, take your pick.  FYI, Tucker has now been fired from Fox, CNN, and MSNBC.

Moving on to Don Lemon . . . Don says he was STUNNED to find out yesterday that he was being let go because he was given no indication that he was on his way out.

In addition to his ratings not being great, Lemon has been involved in several controversies lately . . . particularly due to comments about women.

For when he said professional female soccer players shouldn't be paid as much as men because they're not as interesting to watch.  Or when he suggested that women are no longer in their prime after their 20s or 30s.

And "Variety" ran a piece earlier this month about Don's misogyny and "diva-like behavior" behind the scenes.
