American Idol Contestant Who Was "Mom-Shamed" By Katy Perry Quits Show

The “American Idol” contestant that gained fame by calling out Katy Perry for “mom-shaming” is dropping out of the show. Sara Beth, the bubbly redheaded mother of three, made an announcement on Sunday night’s episode that her performance of “Roxanne” by The Police would mark her last appearance on the show.

The judges were disappointed in Sara’s decision, calling it a mistake. Perry even jumped in to mend fences with the young singer saying, “I know life is scary. I also know that it’s easier to walk away than to be rejected.” Perry added, “But then I also know that you lose out on your fullest potential. I know you love your family, your kids; I know that as a mother. But self-love is just as big as motherly love. Don’t leave the competition.”

The judges even revealed they were about to send Sara through to the next round based on her “Roxanne” performance. Sadly, the pep-talk and offer to move onto Hollywood Week weren't enough to make Sara stay.
