MLB Closing Pitch Clock Loophole

With the new pitch clock making its spring training debut, some pitchers have become “opportunistic,”…meaning they’ve gained an advantage by throwing their pitches before batters have time to get set in the batter’s box. This is a pitch clock rule “loophole” that baseball brass is trying to close. A memo was sent to all MLB clubs over the weekend “clarifying that umpires will call a quick pitch if the pitcher delivers the ball before the batter is ‘reasonably set’ in the batter’s box.”

Ja Morant Missing At Least Two Games After Gun Video.

The hits keep on a-comin’ for Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies trouble magnet’s latest brush with stupidity game in the form of an Instagram Live video that went viral which appeared to show him dancing at a club while holding a gun by his face. As a result, Morant is now in the middle of what is “at least” going to be a two-game suspension. 

  • Morant has apologized for “his actions” to his “family, teammates, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down.” He says he also “takes full responsibility” for his actions.
  • Morant has also said that he’s going to be taking steps “to get help.”
  • Sponsorship partner Nike also had a statement on the matter, which read, “We appreciate Ja’s accountability and he’s taking the time to get the help he needs. We support the prioritization of his well-being.”

Vegas Moves To Give A’s A “Better Opportunity”

Las Vegas baseball officials have made it clear they’re “ready to take on a Major League Baseball franchise.” Don Logan’s the COO of the Triple-A Aviators and an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. He says Vegas has “always been a unique sports market,” and an A’s move to Vegas “makes sense.” Las Vegas first started quietly examining the possibility of the move in 2004, and Logan admits that a retractable-roof stadium is a must if any deal’s going to happen because who wants to play ball in the 110-degree desert heat?

UFC 285 Bonus: Jake Gyllenhaal Shoots Fight Scene For “Roadhouse” Remake

Fans who attended UFC 285 in Vegas over the weekend got a nice “bonus fight” as part of their experience. In case you hadn’t heard, a remake of the 1989 cult classic “Roadhouse” is currently being shot…and some of it was shot at the event. An impressively jacked Jake Gyllenhaal took to the octagon to shoot a fight scene for the flick. In addition, Gyllenhaal shot a scene on Friday where he participated in the weigh-in.
