Music: Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard’s Side Project Releases New Song

Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard’s Side Project Releases New Song

Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard’s side project Painted Shield is getting ready to release their sophomore album, and they’ve just shared the first single from the record.

The tune “Dead Man's Dream" will be featured on “Painted Shield 2,” dropping on April 22nd. In addition to Stone, the band includes songwriter Mason JenningsMatt Chamberlain, and Seattle's Brittany Davis.

“This one started as a classic Stone Gossard riff," says Jennings. “The lyrics were originally from a folk song I had been working on for a few years. I wondered how it would work to lay the folk lyrics against that heavy rock bed. Felt good. Then we all sang in the choruses and channeled our love for Van Halen." Check out the song to the right.

Mammoth WVH Debut "Epiphany" Video

Mammoth WVH has shared the music video for their latest single, "Epiphany."

The video contains footage of Mammoth WVH performing the song at various stops during their fall 2021 tour, including one of their gigs opening up for Guns N' Roses last September.

"'Epiphany' is the song that I always say best represents the core sound of Mammoth WVH," Wolfgang Van Halen said in a statement. "The song was easily the biggest unreleased track and has resonated most with the fans since the album was released last June." WVH continued, "That's why it made sense to be a single now." "It is also one of the most fun to play live, and I can't wait to get back out on the road and play it on the Young Guns Tour," the artist declared.

Portugal. The Man Drop New Single

Portugal. The Man is back with a brand new single, “What, Me Worry?” the first release from their upcoming ninth album, which is expected to drop in June. Lead singer John Gourley says the song is inspired by his childhood.

"While recording this album and hanging in LA, we got into a conversation with Jeff Bhasker and Ryan Tedder [the producers on the track] about how much we missed the laughter," he shares. "The last few years it's been so easy to forget the fun in what we do. We talked about childhood memories of laughing at the world and ourselves while flipping through Mad Magazine."

He adds, "We missed those days and remembered that we all make music. So we took that afternoon to make a song about it." Check out the tune to the right.

Snoop Dogg Now Owns Death Row Records

SNOOP DOGG is now the official owner of Death Row Records.

He issued a statement saying, quote, "I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value.

"It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members . . . I'm looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records."

Death Row was founded in 1991 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey. Snoop joined in 1993, and released his debut album "Doggystyle" in November of that year.

He's releasing his new album "B.O.D.R." on Death Row tomorrow. (The title stands for "Back on Death Row".)

Snoop doesn't own the music rights to Death Row's catalog . . . but he's probably working on that.

(Speaking of Snoop, he's being sued over an alleged sexual assault from 2013. He claims it's a shakedown.)
