Tom Cruise Planning To Shoot A Movie In Space With Elon Musk's Company

How does Tom Cruise top the insane stunts he's done in the last few Mission: Impossible movies? According to SlashFilm, he's taking it off-planet to shoot a movie in space.

Cruise is working with Elon Musk's SpaceX and NASA to develop an action movie project that would take the actor into space for production. Reports are that the film would not be part of the Mission: Impossible franchise, but it's early in the development process. No studio or director are involved at this point.

Performing insane stunts himself has become Tom Cruise's signature move over the last several Mission: Impossible movies. He seemed ready to hand off the big action stuff to Jeremy Renner's character in 2011's Ghost Protocol, but that film featured Cruise hanging off the outside of the world's tallest building. The next two movies had him dangling from an airborne plane, breaking his leg jumping between buildings, doing a HALO jump, and learning to fly a helicopter for a big action sequence.

If the space movie comes together, it will be the first narrative feature film to be shot in outer space.
