The Duffer Brothers Studied Different Series Finales When Deciding...

Matt and Ross Duffer studied their favorite series finales when coming up with how to end their Netflix hit, "Stranger Things".

The ones they thought really worked are "Six Feet Under""Friday Night Lights", and even "The Sopranos".

Ross told "Variety", quote, "The best ones were very true to themselves. The shows that are trying to be super clever, I think that's where it can go wrong really quickly."

Matt added, quote, "We knew roughly what the end scene was for years, it wasn't something we had a strain to come up with. There were elements of it that were discussed for weeks,

"But the core idea of the ending, we had for a really long time. Anyway, we're really happy with the way it ended. It's nerve-racking to put it out. I'm sure people will have opinions!"

We won't know which aspects of those different finales they used until "Stranger Things" ends its five-season run on New Year's Eve. What we DO know, is the final episode is called "The Rightside Up" and it'll be around two hours long.

In case you need a refresher, here's how each of those different finales went . . .

1.  "Six Feet Under": It shows a montage of how the main characters die.

2.  "Friday Night Lights": There was also a montage of the characters' futures.

3.  "The Sopranos": A suspicious man enters a diner where Tony is eating with his family. The screen then cuts to black. Does Tony get whacked? Does the family finish their meal and continue on with their lives? Nobody knows.
