Wendy's Is Switching to Shredded Iceberg Lettuce in Burgers

A lot of people like the IDEA of having greens on their burger . . . but in practice, it's generally an afterthought. Especially at fast-food joints.

 

 

One place is making a change though . . . for better or worse.

 

 

Wendy's is in the process of quietly switching from whole-leafed romaine lettuce to shredded iceberg lettuce for its burgers and chicken sandwiches.

 

 

The switch began at select locations this summer . . . and is slowly rolling out across the country.

 

 

Wendy's claims the change was made to "improve lettuce consistency and maintain a reliable supply." The romaine was "hand-leafed at each location" . . . while the shredded iceberg lettuce will arrive prepared in bags, so there's a convenience factor as well. 

 

This lettuce change will NOT affect their salads, which will continue to be prepared with romaine or spring mix.
