Eddie Van Halen's 1982 Kramer electric guitar is hitting the auction block and is expected to sell for over $2 million.
The axe was played by Eddie throughout 1982 and 1983
Southeby’s will be auctioning off Eddie’s iconic 1982 Kramer electric, played by the late shredder on Van Halen’s tours in 1982 and 1983. The auction house is projecting the axe to sell for between $2-3 million during Sotheby’s inaugural Grails Week (October 21st to the 28th).
Based on Eddie’s original “Frankenstein” guitar, the Kramer was modified by EVH himself during a trip to the Kramer factory in Neptune, New Jersey. Photos depict him working on the guitar with an electrical drill at one point, and he adorned it with his trademark black-white-and-red striped design
The Kramer is the latest EVH axe to hit the auction block. Previously, the guitar used in the “Hot for Teacher” music video fetched nearly $4 million in 2023, and in 2020, some of Eddie’s guitars were sold at auction shortly after his death, to the dismay of Wolfgang Van Halen.

Robert Plant Explains Why He Won't Perform Led Zeppelin's Biggest Hits at His Solo Shows
Robert Plant just wrapped the European leg of his tour with his new band Saving Grace. Their North American shows kick off in October.
So far, they've been performing a few Led Zeppelin songs like "The Rain Song" and "Ramble On". But don't expect Plant to sing some of their OTHER hits. He says, quote, "to do it for the sake of it was never what Zeppelin was about."
Plant adds, quote, "What were the hits? How can they be related to now, where do they fit? They fit as a sort of memoir. When people say that I don't like 'Stairway to Heaven', I just don't like the idea of it. These iconic things . . . .
"They're just what they are. But you know, most people have missed some of the best Zeppelin stuff. 'For Your Life', on 'Presence'. 'Achilles Last Stand'! [Effing] hell. Just extraordinary that three people and a singer can do that."
He also declined an invite from Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi to attend Black Sabbath's "Back to the Beginning" show. Quote, "I said, Tony, I'd love to come, but I can't come . . . I don't know anything about what's going on in that world now.
"I don't decry it, I've got nothing against it. It's just I found these other places that are so rich."
