Happy National Iced Tea Day. Do you think it's the BEST summer beverage? Is it better than Lemonade?
Tea has been around forever, but iced tea didn’t burst onto the scene and win over America’s hearts and minds until 1904. In that year, visitors to the St. Louis World’s Fair were greeted by exceedingly hot weather. Tea plantation owner and merchant Richard Blechynden, who was present at the fair, took advantage of the situation by selling chilled tea drinks (instead of hot tea) as a cold refreshment. The rest is history. On June 10, we fill our glasses with iced tea (sweetened or unsweetened—that’s your call) and celebrate National Iced Tea Day.

The iced tea brand Milo's polled 1,000 Americans, and half said drinking iced tea reminds them of summer, or spending time outdoors.
53% think iced tea is the "ideal" drink for sipping on the porch, deck, or anywhere outside.
A separate poll recently found 8% of American adults have never tried iced tea.
Social media has LOTS of thoughts on what the "best" summer drink is. Other contenders include: soda . . . beer . . . Arnold Palmers . . . mojitos . . . slushies . . . soda water . . . Gatorade . . . watermelon juice . . . cold brew . . . coconut water . . . or regular water if you want to be boring about it.
