If you’re flying to a fun destination this weekend for Memorial Day, brace yourself, it’s going to be a busy one. Crowded airports and flights can be annoying, but that’s just one of the many things that can turn a lovely flight into a nightmare experience.
A new survey of 2-thousand air travelers reveals the top things that irritate them the most and a lot of them are totally relatable.
- So, what annoys passengers more than anything else? Kids are to blame for the number one thing on the list - kicking the back of the seat, which 36% say is the worst offense.
- Children are also the culprits in the second most annoying thing when flying - when kids are crying or disruptive.
- Seat reclining comes in third, followed by drunk passengers and using a device without using headphones.
- But 15% of respondents admit they’re guilty of doing some of the most irritating things themselves, especially trying to dominate the armrest (54%).
- Nearly half (47%) say they’re frequently frustrated by the things fellow passengers do, but 8% claim they feel like that every time they fly.
- When they’re irritated on a flight, 44% make it known how they feel by sighing or huffing, and 19% have gotten into a heated conversation about it.
- Some people don’t mind talking to other passengers, including 37% who acknowledge the person they’re sitting next to and are happy to chat if they want to. But 32% have come to regret that, as their seat mate rattled on during the entire flight.
- And 17% admit they avoid talking to others on the plane, with 25% going as far as to pretend to be asleep to not have to chat.
- Three-quarters (76%) would support a section for parents and kids to sit in, but 37% think rowdy adults are even more irritating.
- Alcohol can be part of the problem, and 44% think it would be smart to have some restrictions for booze on board.
