The World Video Game Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2025. Four new games are being honored. They are:
1. Defender, a 1981 arcade game that raised the bar on difficulty from simpler stuff like Space Invaders.
2. Quake, the 1996 follow-up to Doom, which introduced a 3D engine that's still used today.
3. GoldenEye 007, which became one of the best-selling Nintendo 64 games upon its release in 1997.
4. Tamagotchi, the digital pets introduced in 1996.
Games that did NOT make the cut this year are: Age of Empires, Angry Birds, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Frogger, Golden Tee, Harvest Moon, Mattel Football, and NBA 2K.
