"Above Ground" Benefit Concert To Feature Some Big Names
There are “all-star” concerts, and then there’s the "Above Ground" benefit concert on January 25th in Los Angeles. It’s the fourth version of the event, and the list of performers is a who’s-who of musicians. Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro and Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison put the show together, and this time around they’ll be joined by Billy Idol, Billy Howerdel from A Perfect Circle, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Elliot Easton from The Cars, Josh Freese from the Foo Fighters, Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath and more. The concert will focus on two albums: the self-titled debuts from the New York Dolls in 1973 and The Cars from 1978. The money raised is used for awareness and to help fund the issues of mental health and suicide prevention.
