The Cop and the Construction Worker from The Village People Are Fighting!

In their song "In the Navy", the Village People preached about protecting your fellow man. But two longtime members of the group are threatening to tear into each other . . . and not in a sensuous way.

If you haven't been paying attention, Victor Willis . . . who's the group's COP, lead singer, and songwriter . . . has been championing Donald Trump's use of "Y.M.C.A." at rallies . . . while also trying to claim it's never been a gay anthem.

Well, David Hodo, who was the CONSTRUCTION WORKER during the band's heyday in the late '70s through the early '80s, disagrees.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, he noted that the guy who wrote "Y.M.C.A." with Willis was Jacques Morali, the GAY French producer who created the Village People.

He said Jacques wrote the hook and the music after Randy Jones . . . the Village People COWBOY . . . took him to a Y and introduced him to, quote, "several gay porn stars who worked out there."

Hodo also said the song isn't even that good, and it would have disappeared a long time ago if the "kids from 'American Bandstand'" hadn't invented the famous arm movements to go along with it.

But Willis is NOT letting that stand. He shot back that Jacques didn't even like Hodo.

Then he added, quote, "Back in your hole before I crush you again, you replacement (non-original) Village People member who has lied for years that you're an original."

FYI, David Hodo has not been a Village Person since 2013.
