Members of One Direction spoke out yesterday after the death of Liam Payne.
Harry Styles said, quote, "I am truly devastated by Liam's passing. His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honor to be alongside him as he did it."
Zayn Malik said, quote, "I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what I'd give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly."
Louis Tomlinson said, quote, "I am beyond devastated . . . Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul . . . [He] was an incredible song writer with a great sense of melody."
Niall Horan hasn't issued a statement yet, but One Direction's Instagram posted a message from all four of them saying, quote, "We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing.
"In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."
Meanwhile, some of the messy details of Liam's death have begun pouring in.
The coroner in Buenos Aires says Liam died from trauma and internal and external bleeding, after falling from the third floor balcony of his hotel room.
Local prosecutors say it seems that Liam was alone when he fell, and was, quote, "going through some kind of outbreak due to substance abuse."
Also, they found substances that COULD be narcotics in the room, along with alcohol and, quote, "several destroyed objects and furniture."
Just minutes before Liam's death, the manager called 911 to report a guest who was under the influence and was trashing his room.
One more detail: Given the position of Liam's body, it appears he didn't try to break his fall, meaning he may have been unconscious or semi-conscious when he fell.
