Gen Z'ers Now Trust Influencers More Than Their Friends

Is word-of-mouth advertising dead? A new poll by GoDaddy found we trust our friends' opinions less than we used to.

 

 

People were asked how likely they'd be to buy a product if a friend posted about it online and said it was great. Then they were asked how likely they'd be to buy it if a social media INFLUENCER said to.

 

 

Older Americans are still more likely to trust a friend. But Gen Z thinks VERY highly of what influencers say.

 

 

57% of Gen Z say they're fairly likely to buy something an influencer suggests, compared to 40% for stuff their friends say to buy.

 

 

Influencers ranked #1, followed by a post from a business you follow online . . . an ad that pops up in your feed . . . and a friend's post ranked last.
