Criminals: A Couple Tried to Sell Their Baby for Beer

A Couple Tried to Sell Their Baby for Beer

Everyone likes to talk about how much groceries are with inflation, but how much are people wanting for BABIES these days?

A couple in Arkansas . . . 21-year-old Darien Urban and 20-year-old Shalene Ehlers . . . were arrested last week after they tried to sell their two-month-old boy to a man at a campground for $1,000 and a six-pack of beer.

They are facing felony charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to accept compensation for relinquishment of a minor.

The "buyer," Cody Martin, even drew up a receipt and the couple signed it. It said, "[We're] signing our rights over to Cody Martin of our baby boy for $1,000 on 09-21-2024. Disclaimer: After signing this there will be no changing y'all two's minds and to never contact again."

Multiple people witnessed this "transaction" at the campground, although no money had changed hands yet. One of the witnesses called the cops.

The buyer, Cody, says the mother told him she wanted to give up her son because, quote, "It was not working having three dogs and a baby."

And even if this "adoption" would've never been legal, the kid probably would've been better off. When the cops got there, a deputy called emergency medical services to transport the baby to a hospital for evaluation for signs of neglect.

The child is in the care of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Not surprisingly, there was a LOT of drinking happening at the campground that day . . . even one of the men who tried to help the baby was totally blitzed when he was talking to the police.
