New Street Chalupa From Taco Bell Could Be Launching Nationwide Soon.
Taco Bell has previously tested the Street Chalupa, a new menu item in select markets and it looks like it could be coming to nationwide locations in the very near future as a permanent menu addition. There’s no official date or announcement about the arrival but a press release from DoorDash announcing their fifth-annual Summer of DashPass savings event mentions an $8 discount on orders of $25 or more that include a Taco Bell Street Chalupa.
The Street Chalupa features a blend of melted mozzarella and pepper Jack cheeses layered between two crunchy Chalupa shells and stuffed with either marinated steak or shredded chicken, diced onions, cilantro and jalapeño ranch sauce. The $8 off deal mentioned in the DoorDash promotion is scheduled to run from July 18 through July 24, so it looks like the new item will hit stores later this summer in time for that.
The initial test of the new Street Chalupa back in October of 2023 referred to it as the “Cheesy Street Chalupa” priced at $5.49 to $5.99 depending on location, so keep your eyes out for the new Street Chalupa this summer.

What's the Best and Worst Way to Cook Bacon?
How do you cook your bacon? In a pan? In the microwave? Air fryer, or oven? Everybody thinks that their way is the best way. But according to the folks at TheKitchn.com, you might be doing it ALL WRONG.
Honestly, most of these options are still pretty delicious, because it's BACON after all . . . But which way is the best? Here are the top two:
1. Put your bacon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake it at 400 degrees. 18 minutes for regular-cut . . . 24 minutes for thick-cut. It's hands down the winner, because of how perfect the cook is, and the ease of cleanup.
2. Cooking in a cast iron skillet. Put the bacon in a cold cast iron skillet and then turn on medium heat. Continue to turn for 8-11 minutes, depending on thickness and desired crispiness.
And here are the two worst ways to cook bacon:
1. The water in the pan method. You're supposed to add enough water to cover the bacon . . . Then turn on high heat and cook till the water boils . . . Then medium until the water evaporates . . . then low-medium to finish. NOPE. This method was too messy, and the bacon cooked unevenly.
2. Microwave. And you already know why. They're going to be nuclear hot and rubbery. It's slightly better if you sandwich the bacon between paper towels, but they never come out crispy enough.
What's your favorite way to cook bacon?

A New "Beige Flag": Taking a Restaurant's Plates and Glasses?
Normal people will ask for a to-go container, and they'll slide whatever food they want to take home into it. But there are people who will take the whole dish . . . including the ACTUAL dish.
There's a TikTok making the rounds where a woman says, "My husband's beige flag is that every time we go to a fancy restaurant, and he likes a dish, he will ask for a box and STEAL IT." She added, "I mean, I'm not mad."
The clip shows a large to-go box, with an entire oval-shaped hot-plate sitting inside, with some lobster mac and cheese still in it. The clip also shows the husband, who shrugs.
A bar owner filmed a response, saying that they used to buy fancy glasses that cost about $20 each . . . but they are going to have to stop doing that because people keep stealing them.
(There's an F-BOMB in his response.)
Most of the commenters are actually FINE with this thievery . . . provided you're taking them from chains, not small businesses. Some people were even boasting about their "collections."
The people who were AGAINST stealing dishes argued that this is a reason businesses have to raise prices for everyone. Another said that many chain locations are run by franchise owners, who don't make a ton of money.
