R.E.M. Broke Up Because They Couldn't Decide Where to Eat Dinner . . . But They Reunited Onstage Last Night
All four members of R.E.M. sat down for their first TV interview in 30 years. It aired on yesterday's "CBS This Morning". And they gave us some insight into why they broke up in 2011. It was a FOOD thing.
Peter Buck said, quote, "We could barely agree on where to go to dinner. And now, we can just agree on where to go to dinner . . .
"I think we quit at the right time. This is a really good place to finish, you know . . . great tour, great album, go home."
All the guys also noted that they're still friends after all these years . . . and not many bands can say that.
As for a reunion, don't get your hopes up. Mike Mills said it would take a "comet" for them to get back together.
But they actually DID reunite last night. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and did an acoustic version of "Losing My Religion".
It was the first time all four of them have played together since 2007, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Drummer Bill Berry left the band in 1997, two years after suffering an aneurysm onstage.

The Eagles just announced a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere this fall. Although, if we're saying it properly, it should be: "EAGLES just announced a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere this fall.

1. Beastie Boys
2. Bee Gees
3. Carpenters
