Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses Insists "The Simpsons" Named Duff Beer After Him
Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan insists that Duff Beer on "The Simpsons" is named after him. He says he was known as Duff, the King of Beers around the time the show was created.
Quote, "[It was] 1988, 1989 and our management, I remember they called me and said some arthouse-like cartoon wants to use your name as the beer, like a college arthouse cartoon . . .
"I didn't know about branding or anything like that, but that show took off. And then they started selling merch and stuff. I never went after him, but I'm like, 'Hey, mother[effers]', you know?"
The creators of the show deny he had anything to do with it. Matt Groening has called Duff's claim "absurd", and a former showrunner once wrote in a book, quote, "We'd never heard of this guy. Have you?"

Duran Duran's "Rio" Album Cover Model Has Finally Been Identified
The model who inspired the album cover of Duran Duran's "Rio" has finally been identified . . . 42 years later. Her name is Marcie Hunt and she was a model in a 1981 issue of "Vogue Paris".
The late artist Patrick Nagel saw her photo in the magazine, and used her smile, eyes, and face shape as a reference.
Marcie says, quote, "This is so cool! I absolutely did not know until now that this photo of me was used for the cover. Very exciting! Love Duran Duran, and danced to their music often in the '80s. And later at my wedding."
(You can see photos here. And here's Marcie's Instagram if you want to see what she looks like now.)
