I'm not sure how a major corporation does something this dumb, but they did: The shopping channel QVC had to issue an apology for an email they sent about a handbag that went on sale last week.
The headline said, "You'll Love This Bag LONGTIME" . . . an obvious take on the line "me love you long time" associated with Asian sex workers.
The email went out last Friday . . . on INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY. The body of the email even mentioned it.
QVC's president sent an apology the same day, calling it "derogatory language that is offensive, particularly to the Asian community and women." He added it doesn't reflect the company's "commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion."
QVC says it's making "immediate improvements" to ensure something like this never happens again.
