MUSIC NEWS: Sammy Hagar's New Tour Will Focus on Van Halen

Sammy Hagar's New Tour Will Focus on Van Halen

Sammy Hagar is hitting the road next summer for the Best of All Worlds tour, and he says, quote, "We're gonna go deep into the Van Halen catalog."

Not surprisingly, Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony will be along for the ride . . . plus Joe Satriani on guitar and Jason Bonham on drums. The tour launches on July 13th in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Sammy says, quote, "It will be almost exactly 20 years since Mike and I did a reunion with Ed and Al in '04.

"Mike and I just said, 'We can't wait another 20 years. How long can I even sing these songs? How long can I do this stuff?' I just thought it's time to serve the fans."

Foo Fighters To Team Up With H.E.R. For New Single:

It seems SNL was only the beginning. Foo Fighters and H.E.R. have more in store after a successful collab on the long-running NBC sketch show. Together, they’ve announced an upcoming release of the single they performed on the show “The Glass.” On Friday, the Dave Grohl-led band will release a double A-side single with both the band’s OG version and H.E.R.’s “reinterpretation” of the track.

Oliver Anthony's Music Will Never Be a Nashville Guy, and He's Doing a World Tour

His birth name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, but his professional name is Oliver Anthony Music. Yeah, it's been official for a while, but in a new interview with "Billboard" he explained the whole story.

Before "Rich Men North of Richmond" exploded onto the scene he was just some guy making a living working in sales. He didn't want his music side gig to interfere with his ability to put food on the table.

Quote, "I adopted the name because I didn't want my real name associated with the music, because I've got a lot of songs about a lot of things that I wouldn't necessarily want an employer to hear."

Oliver Anthony is his late grandfather's name, and they were very close. That's the first part.

Here's the rest. Quote, "The reason I stick Music on the end is because it really is supposed to be a representation of music that would have existed in [my grandfather's] era when he was alive, living up in the mountains.

"They had dirt floors, they were scrounging to survive, didn't have electricity. I'm trying to represent that type of music [and] maintain the simplicity that would've been necessary at that time."

Oliver is going to do everything possible to hang onto that bare-bones spirit. There's a deal in place for him to record his debut studio album. Here's what he said when asked if he'll be heading to Music City for that.

Quote, "We're going to be in a studio in Georgia. I'm never going to be in Nashville sitting with people co-writing, ever.

"Most anything I put out is going to be something I write just by myself and if I do co-write something with somebody, it's going to be with another artist and we're going to be singing the song together.

"I don't ever want to sit in some writing circle somewhere and have somebody in khaki pants and a collared shirt figuring out what my words are from my song. There [are] a million other people that can go do that. I'm not one of those guys."

The album will be out next year . . . and he'll be promoting it with his "Out of the Woods" world tour. The U.S. leg will pick up February 21st in Nashville, and wrap September 13th in Allegan, Michigan.

Oliver also shared a funny clip where he dreams that he's still just a guy named Chris working in sales . . . but his co-workers know otherwise. There's a follow-up where he realizes it's all been REAL . . . and he's late for the world tour.
