“I THINK TECHNOLOGY OVERUSE IS KILLING METAL AND KILLING ROCK,” SAID SHADOWS. “EVERYONE'S USING THE SAME SAMPLES… (AND) IT'S NOT APPEALING TO ME BECAUSE THERE'S NO DYNAMIC, THERE'S NO THIS OR THAT, IT ALL SOUNDS THE SAME.' I THINK THAT'S WHY BANDS LIKE TOOL, BANDS LIKE SYSTEM (OF A DOWN), THEY REALLY STAND OUT BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH DYNAMIC, THERE'S SO MUCH REALNESS HAPPENING.”
HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT IF ALL MUSIC WAS “PERFECTLY TUNED… IT JUST WOULDN’T HAVE THE SAME THING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL.” SHADOWS’ RANT BEGAN AFTER BEING ASKED IF SEVENFOLD’S NEW ALBUM “LIFE IS BUT A DREAM…” CONTAINED ANY SAMPLES. SHADOWS WAS ADAMANT THAT IT DOESN’T.
