2023 Freedom Over Texas Fireworks Show.

A 58-year-old guy in Cary, Illinois, was seriously injured by a "commercially rated" firework.

He was setting them off outside and thought one was a dud.  So he STARED DOWN THE TUBE to see what was up, and that's when it went off.

 

It hit him in the face.  He was in and out of consciousness on his way to the hospital and was in critical condition when he arrived.

Animals at a zoo in Chicago got to celebrate the Fourth AND beat the heat with some frozen red-white-and-blue treats.

  The polar bears got blocks of red-white-and-blue ice with frozen fruit in it.  The seals and sea lions got treats too.

Katy Man Arrested For Setting Fireworks Stand On Fire

A Katy man is accused of setting fire to a fireworks stand in Cypress early Tuesday morning. Police say 34-year-old Julian Guevara used gasoline to set fire to the stand on the corner of Jones Road and Cypress North Houston at about 3 a.m. The fire damaged the back of the building, destroyed about 500 dollars worth of fireworks, and melted the port-a-can. A homeless woman who stays nearby gave Guevara's license plate number to police, who arrested him at his home a few hours later. Guevara is charged with arson.

A shark was spotted on Navarre Beach Monday among swimmers!

Do you know what we were celebrating yesterday?  

Someone quizzed 2,000 Americans, and just 59% chose the right answer:  "The signing of the Declaration of Independence."  Another 22% were close, though.  They chose "The establishment of the U.S. as an independent nation," which is almost correct.

  So they had to cancel the whole thing last minute.

And in a poll on the American flag, 21% of Americans said they display one at home daily.  

5% also said they wear American flag clothing every day.

A separate poll found a third of us can't spell the word "independence" . . . I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-C-E.  Also, just 58% correctly identified the country we gained independence from, Great Britain.  11% said "Native Americans."
