A Five-Year-Old Swallowed 40 Pieces of Gum . . .

A five-year-old boy recently swallowed 40 pieces of gum in one. Remember when you were young, and adults said that you shouldn't swallow gum . . . because it took SEVEN YEARS to digest it?

That's not REALLY true.  Your body will pass the gum within two DAYS . . . but that doesn't mean it's okay to swallow it.  Gum can't be digested, so it comes out whole, and if you swallow a few pieces, it could cause digestive problems.

A five-year-old boy recently swallowed 40 PIECES of gum in ONE day, and it obstructed his GI tract . . . causing a MAJOR stomach ache.  He was rushed to the ER, and scans showed the problem was the huge mass of gum.

Doctors removed the gum by placing a metal tube down his throat, and using a tool to grab the buildup.  The boy suffered a sore throat afterward . . . but that was nothing compared to having 40 pieces of gum clogging his pipes.
