Music: Foo Fighters Announced The New Drummer!

Foo Fighters Announced The New Drummer!

The wait is over. Just over a year after Foo Fighters lost their drummer Taylor Hawkins, the band has been named his successor.

On their “Preparing Music For Concerts” livestream yesterday, the Dave Grohl-led band announced Josh Freese would take up the band’s drumsticks. The band built the moment up by cheekily introducing other drummers in anticipation of the announcement, including Tommy Lee and Chad Smith.

Freese has previously worked with Guns ‘N Roses, Nine Inch Nails, and Paramore, among others, and was a part of Hawkins’ tribute show the band produced in his memory. Foo Fighters are set to hit the road again on Wednesday, reportedly with Freese at the drum kit.

Leave it to the Foo Fighters to announce their new drummer with a funny video.

The band is standing around talking in their L.A. rehearsal studio when drummers like Chad Smith and Tommy Lee come knocking for various reasons. Later, you see that their new drummer, Josh Freese, has been patiently waiting to rock out.

Info on Josh Freese:   He's a young looking 50.

He's been playing drums in the Vandals since 1989 and has performed for long stretches with everyone from Devo, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, the Replacements, Sting, Sublime with Rome, Weezer, A Perfect Circle, the Offspring, Danny Elfman, and Paramore. He replaces Taylor Hawkins, who died in March 2022.

Kurt Cobain's Smashed Guitar Sells Big At Auction.

Nearly 30 years after his death, grunge rock icon Kurt Cobain is still a financial draw. One of the late Nirvana frontman’s guitars from the band’s “Nevermind” phase was a headline item at Julien’s Auctions’ three-day “Music Icons” auction over the weekend.

Cobain’s left-hand-oriented Fender Stratocaster, which the rocker smashed, sold for almost ten times its original estimated worth. The guitar, also signed by Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, raked in $595,000. It also includes a message to Screaming Tress’ Mark Lanegan that reads: “Hell-o Mark! Love, your pal, Kurdt Kobain/Washed Up Rockstar.”

The smashed guitar had been reassembled but is said to be unplayable. Among other artists whose possessions/memorabilia were included in the mega-auction are Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson.
