RATM's Tim Commerford Is Battling Cancer.
Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford has revealed the reason for the band’s recently canceled appearances: he’s battling prostate cancer. Calling it “a brutal psychological journey.”
Commerford admitted he discovered his condition after being turned down for medical insurance because of high PSA numbers. “Eventually, they did a biopsy and found out I had cancer, so they took my prostate out.” The rocker admitted his diagnosis and an injury to frontman Zach de la Rocha were responsible for multiple canceled dates.
But there’s good news for Commerford: “I just got my six-month test, and it came back at zero,” he says. “I was like, ‘F*** yeah!’ That’s the best I can feel for the rest of my life.”
