The new Disney+ Star Wars series Andor follows the rise of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hero Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). The female lead in the show is Adria Arjona, She plays Bix Caleen, a mechanic and scrap yard owner on the planet Ferrix. She seems to be an old friend, and possibly a former girlfriend, of Andor.
You may have seen her alongside Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan in the recent Disney+ Father of the Bride remake, in Sony's Marvel vampire movie Morbius, or the Netflix action movies 6 Underground and Triple Frontier.
Arjona recently told The Hollywood Reporter that her chemistry test with Diego Luna went so well that she got hired on the spot. She flew to London, at the height of the COVID pandemic, where she met with Luna and creator/showrunner Tony Gilroy to test for the role.
We did one scene together, and Tony just stood up and was like, “Diego, meet your co-star. Adria, meet your co-star.” And I was like, “I’m sorry, what?” And Tony was like, “Welcome to Star Wars.” And then my heart just dropped. That whole testing period only lasted 10 minutes, and I did the scene once, plus another quick little scene. And all of a sudden, I was in Star Wars.
It was a good hire. She's awesome in the show. And one week in, the Bix Caleen fandom is already going strong.
