Marvel's 'Werewolf By Night' Screened And People Say It Rules

Marvel has a Halloween special hitting Disney+ early next month and they screened it for an audience last night at Austin's Fantastic Fest. Reactions seem to be very positive...scary, funny, and very cool.

It's in black and white and made to evoke the vibe of old-school horror movies. Gael Garcia Bernal stars, along with Laura Donnelly and Sansom Harris. This one-hour special will give us our first look at how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will handle horror. In addition to superheroes, Marvel has a rich history of publishing comics featuring vampires, werewolves, swamp creatures, and monster hunters. The movies and Disney+ shows are just starting to move into that territory with this, Moon Knight, and the upcoming Blade.

Here's how the studio describes the Marvel Studios Special Presentation...Werewolf by Night:

On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
