System of a Down Singer Serj Tankian Is a Recovering Video Game Addict
SYSTEM OF A DOWN singer SERJ TANKIAN had to give up video games when his playing started to cause damage to his hands.
He was so addicted . . . particularly to "NBA Jam" . . . that it was getting hard to make music. But that didn't stop him from making music for video games.
In an interview with "Loudwire", Serj said, quote, "I'm not doing games now, but I love doing music for them."
His latest video game project was lending vocals to the soundtrack of "Metal: Hellsinger". The game hasn't come out yet, but it'll be for the PC or PlayStation 5. (Click here for more info.)

The Strokes Announce Intimate Chicago Show
The Strokes have announced an intimate gig on May 30th at the Metro venue in Chicago in support of congressional candidate Kina Collins, running to represent Illinois’ 7th District. The show at the 1,100-capacity venue will be the first time in 20 years the band has played there.
In a statement, frontman Julian Casablancas said, “Kina Collins has lived the challenges on the ground in IL-7 and she’s exactly the kind of non-corporate, good-hearted, progressive-minded leader the world needs in these corrupt times.”
The band is set to appear at several festivals this summer, including Corona Capital in Mexico, Primavera Sound in Spain, Lancashire’s Lytham Festival, and Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival.
Tickets for the Chicago show are on sale starting today at 10 a.m. Central time with a two-ticket limit.

The Cure Receives Icon Award At Ivor Novello Awards
During the Ivor Novello Awards ceremony in London, Robert Smith and Simon Gallup of The Cure were presented with the Icon Award by their long-time agent Martin Hopewell, who said that after meeting the band a half-century ago and agreeing to help them “makes one of the very few decisions I’ve made in my life that I don’t want to go back in time and give myself a clip around the ear for making.”
Gallup announced last August that he had left The Cure, saying he was feeling “fed up of betrayal,” but then told a fan in October that he was still a member of the band. He appeared onstage with Smith to accept the award but didn’t make an acceptance speech.
