After acquiring a stake in Twitter, ELON MUSK now wants to buy the whole thing for $43 billion. And during a talk yesterday, he explained that he's not in it for the money . . . it's about FREEDOM.
He said, quote, "This is not a way to make money, my strong intuitive sense is that having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization, I don't care about the economics at all."
He added that Twitter should comply with America's free speech protections, but not go further. Quote, "If in doubt, let the speech . . . exist. If someone you don't like is allowed to say something you don’t like, it's damn annoying.
"[But] when someone you don't like says something you don't like, that is a function of a healthy free speech situation."
Musk has already hit a roadblock in the form of a Saudi Arabian Prince named Alwaleed bin Talal, who owns a significant piece of Twitter. They ended up in a back-and-forth after the prince said Elon's bid is way too low.
