Metallica Donate $500K To Help Ukraine
Metallica has donated $500,000 to help Ukraine. The money has been donated to "World Central Kitchen," which is the org celebrity chef José Andrés founded. It's currently been serving meals to Ukrainian refugees, as we previously told you. The band made this donation through their own charitable foundation, "All Within My Hands." This money was actually a follow-up to a $100,000 grant they have already given and was given to kick-start a "Month of Giving".
Metallica's goal is to donate $1 million to "World Central Kitchen" during the Month of Giving (which actually spans two months this year). To reach this goal, they're selling exclusive merchandise on their website, which includes a shirt designed for this campaign by Andrew Cremeans, the band's family artist.
Drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement, “The work that Chef José Andrés and the dedicated World Central Kitchen cooks do on the frontlines in a humanitarian crisis is nothing short of incredible. We are inspired, humbled, and beyond proud to support their teams currently in six European countries serving the millions of Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes. WCK represents everything that Metallica and our All Within My Hands foundation stand for by providing meals with dignity and hope worldwide.”
