Check Out the Trailer for the New Buzz Lightyear Movie with Chris Evans.

So there's going to be a new Buzz Lightyear movie . . . WITHOUT TIM ALLEN. Instead, Buzz is being voiced by CHRIS EVANS.

Pixar released the first trailer yesterday. The movie is called "Lightyear" and it comes out on June 17th.

(Watch it here, David Bowie's "Starman" plays in the background.)

The movie focuses on Buzz's origin story, so he's in human form . . . NOT toy form, like Tim's version.

Still, though, many people can't help but wonder why Tim isn't returning.

TMZ is speculating that it COULD be political. It's no secret that Tim and Chris sit on pretty much opposite ends of the political spectrum . . . if you catch my drift. (But hopefully, that wasn't the reason.)

Maybe the studio just wanted to distinguish a difference between Buzz Lightyear the person and Buzz Lightyear the toy?

Or maybe Chris just plays a "younger" version of the character, so they went with a younger voice? We want answers, Pixar.

Chris seems super stoked though. He shared the trailer yesterday and said, quote, "I'm covered in goosebumps . . . nothing has ever made me feel more joy and gratitude than knowing I'm a part of this and it's basically always on my mind."

Last year when the movie was announced Chris said in a tweet, quote, "And just to be clear, this isn't Buzz Lightyear the toy . . . This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on."

He also said in a December 2020 interview, quote, "No one could ever touch [Tim's] performance. I needed to know how this character was different and why this story was worth telling."
