Music: Smash Mouth Frontman Steve Harwell Retires, Eddie Van Halen + More!

Smash Mouth Frontman Steve Harwell Retires Following Shocking Performance

Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell recently took a hiatus from the band due to health issues, including a heart condition. Well, he’s now announced he’s retiring.

The decision to step away comes after Harwell’s embarrassing performance at a show in Bethel, New York this weekend, which has since gone viral. The video shows him slurring his words and yelling and threatening the audience.

“Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of being a Rockstar performing in front of sold-out arenas and have been so fortunate to live out that dream,” he tells TMZ. “To my bandmates, it’s been an honor performing with you all these years and I can’t think of anyone else I would have rather gone on this wild journey with." He also thanked the band’s fans, adding, “I’ve tried so hard to power through my physical and mental health issues and to play in front of you one last time, but I just wasn't able to."

Finally, he notes, “I cannot wait to see what Smash Mouth accomplishes next and am looking forward to counting myself as one of the band’s newest fans."

Tim Mcgraw left the stage to confront hecklers at his show on Saturday in Reno, Nevada. They were mocking him for forgetting lyrics because he was. Later, Tim confessed to the crowd that he was off his game because he spent "48 straight hours" shooting the movie "1883".

This clip starts with Tim performing, then waving off the hecklers, then he stops singing and glares. At 0:19 it cuts to him IN the crowd while fans are yelling "do the show."
