The first trailer for the movie Karen dropped overnight and the internet seems to have come together to unanimously reject it. Commenters all over social media are calling it a ripoff of director Jordan Peele's Get Out. Other common threads in the discourse are people saying the trailer looks like an SNL movie parody or a bad Lifetime movie about racism.
Karen stars Taryn Manning as the titular Karen. The studio synopsis is below:
Coke Daniels (His, Hers & the Truth) directs the feature about Karen Drexler (Manning), a racist white woman who makes it her personal mission to displace the new Black family that has just moved in next door to her. Community activist Malik (Hardrict) and his wife Imani (Burke) are the couple who have just moved to the Atlanta suburb, but they won’t be backing down without a fight.
