NFL Player Russell Okung Is, In Fact, Not Being Paid In Bitcoin

It all started with the headline, "Panthers' Russell Okung Becomes First NFL Player to Be Paid in Bitcoin."

Media outlets were quick to jump on it and started publishing their own similar articles.

Unfortunately, the headline is "not accurate," and NFL spokesperson told The Verge, adding that "his people are converting some of the money into bitcoin" after he get paid in US dollars, just like every other NFL player.

By that explanation, anyone could be "paid in bitcoin" if they decided to use their salary to buy bitcoin.

I guess "NFL Player Decides to Use Salary to Buy Bitcoin" doesn't have the same oomph behind it.
