Chris Cornell Estate Drops Alternative Version Of Track

Chris Cornell’s daughter Toni celebrated her 16th birthday over the weekend. To mark the occasion, the late Soundgarden singer’s estate has shared a previously unreleased version of the song “Only These Words,” an ode to his daughters.

The song originally appeared as part of Cornell’s 2015 solo album “Higher Truth,” but the newly unearthed version is said to be the true “original” one – a sweet, lullaby-like tune where Cornell repeatedly sings “I love you.”

A tribute to Toni’s birthday has been shared to the late rocker’s official Instagram page. “Your dad would be so proud of the smart, strong, beautiful, and confident woman you are growing up to be,” the post reads. “Your first sentence was ‘I love you’ to your baby brother when you first met him, as your dad so perfectly sang and what it’s always all about.” Check out a clip to the right.
