Food: Cracker Barrel To Start Serving Beer & Wine

Cracker Barrel To Start Serving Beer & Wine

·

People love Cracker Barrel for their southern comfort food and they’re starting to slowly reopen dining rooms as states start to lift social distancing measures. And they’ll be testing something new when they reopen some restaurants: beer and wine.

The chain actually started testing a beer and wine program before the pandemic hit and they plan to continue it. Currently it’s in 20 locations in Florida and they’re expanding that to different markets in Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. One of the most popular items they’re offering is mimosas, which come in orange and strawberry and have been a big hit.

Along with the beer, wine, and hard cider Cracker Barrel is also testing out new menu items, including a new-and-improved chicken pot pie and Saturday Fried Pork Chops.

Debate Breaks Out Over What Fruits & Veggies Should Go In Fridge

There are some foods that nobody would question whether they should go in the refrigerator or not, like say chicken or milk, but then there are others that folks have distinct opinions about. Well, in the UK, a graphic was recently shared on Facebook revealing what fruits and vegetables need to be put in the fridge, and which you don’t...and it’s caused quite controversy.

Fruits and veggies that go in the fridge include apricots, blackberries, grapes, green beans, cauliflower, strawberries, cherries and more, while those that don’t include bananas, apples, peaches, lemons, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes. It seems some folks were downright shocked by the list, with many questioning why things like apples, cucumbers and tomatoes shouldn't be. And some also questioned the notion that carrots, cauliflower and grapes always need to go in the fridge.

Apparently the one item that caused the most debate was the potato. It’s on the don’t refrigerate list, which has shocked a lot of people. As for the reactions from the public, one person noted, “I refrigerate potatoes. They last triple the time!,” while another added, “I always put peppers cucumber potatoes sweet potatoes and garlic in the fridge.” One person even noted, “I keep all my fruit and veg in the fridge what a rebel!”

Users can find new restaurants, bookmark their favorites and share those spots with friends on the app. Anthony and Janique Edwards, founders of eatOkra, recently took to Instagram to explain the app’s mission in light of its rising popularity.

“Fueled by the energy surrounding so many on-going discussions on the preservation of black lives and black spaces, eatOkra started as just a conversation about our desires to give something of substance back to our community,” they write. “More than anything, our mission is to provide a food-themed directory that encourages fellowship through one specific avenue, black food.”
