I have been through an incredible journey up until the moment I’ve written this. (Just like every other human) At age 13 I was diagnosed with OCD, Depression, and anxiety. Obsessive compulsive disorder is a very misunderstood mental illness. What most people think it is, is actually not. I began using drugs and alcohol when I was 14 and it seemed as though I had found my solution to all my problems. But what i didn’t know was that it had all just began. To make a long story short I was destined to be an alcoholic and addict bc it runs majorly on both sides of my family. At about 20 years old I ran my car into a building trying to take my life after being so strung out on everything i said I’d
Never do. I went to rehab and was given the gift of desperation. Thus started to journey to where I am now. When I got sober my ocd came back with a vengeance. I to misunderstood what ocd was and didn’t think I was going through that. After i had my first son I went through something called postpartum ocd....it was one of the most scariest things in my entire life. I finally got diagnosed again and finally sought out the proper treatment. I was terrified to share my experience with other in fear of what people would think of me. After a few relapses off ocd and more treatment i decided I wanted more then anything to share my story and become an advocate for my struggles.
I then became apart of the international ocd conference and have spoken at three different conferences. I was interviewed my the Washington Post, peace of mind foundation, and a podcast call To Know You Are Not Alone.
On my spare time when I’m not working as a hairdresser, being a mom, advocating, or in a AA meeting I’m shooting with different photographers in Houston. I found it to be a hobby that pulled me away just for a bit. It gave me confidence I lacked. I’d love more than anything to be featured on your tattoo Tuesday...whatever that looks like. I’ll leave a few photos and my Instagram for you to take a look.
I am an open book and love sharing my story to help others so they too know they aren’t alone and there is a solution and hope.
Thanks so much for your time!
